A culinary school is an institution for students to gain cooking knowledge and master skills required as a chef.
After graduating the school and taking the necessary procedures, they can receive a chef license. A chef license can prove that you have gained solid cooking knowledge and skills in Japan. Without a chef license, you cannot claim to be a professional chef in Japan.
The curriculums of culinary schools include nutrition and food hygiene, food culture, hospitality, etc., not mention cooking. The course of study varies depending on the school, from one year at the shortest to three years at the longest.
